余论:Logos与“希腊-西方思想方式”
以上我们解释了DK1的意思,特别阐述了logos的含义。或许,我们还需要从一个更广的视野来重新考察logos的问题;这个视野,要求我们把从古希腊到现代西方的整个哲学轮廓乃至整个学术轮廓都收入眼帘。换言之,我们要意识到logos是“西方思想”的“核心语词”之一,它本身可能决定和统摄着西方思想的最一般形态。汉语哲学界已经注意到being(to on,ousia)是西方哲学的核心语词,它统摄着西方“形而上学-逻辑学-神学”体系。同样地,logos也像一个基因,奠定了西方思想关于“世界-语言-逻辑-科学”的基本理解,影响着西方哲学的历史。在存在论视野中,logos作为超越的原则或“逻各斯”,统摄着“世界”,它表示世界的“世界性”,有着“道”这个词在汉语思想中的地位。在知识论视野中,logos被理解为“理性”,是真理的源泉。现代哲学思潮打着“反形而上学”的旗号把主题转换为“语言”,却仍然没有逃出logos的手掌心。logos又恰恰是“语言”。不过,logos作为语言不是一般的言语或声音,而是关于世界的道说。这道说既非神话式的隐喻(mythos),也非博学式的信息累积(historia),也非抒发情感和表现行为的诗歌(poema)和戏剧(drama),而是一种冷静的、直面世界本身之在场的、直言不讳的“道说”。“哲学-科学”就奠基于这种道说方式。这种道说或思想方式被亚里士多德命名为“theōria”(理论-思辨)。西方科学体系至今还沿用“X-logy”和“Theory of X”来表达各门科学。至于“逻辑”(logikē),它的本质从一开始就取决于logos,它在柏拉图那里获得的命名是“he tōn logōn technē”(属于logos的技艺) 。“哲学-逻辑-科学”,这是由logos统摄着的一个体系,它是“希腊-西方”的思想方式,也是“人类-世界”的一种思想方式。
